How are you incorporating AI into your daily tasks?
ChatGPT was introduced in 2022, and since then, the AI market has significantly expanded. Initially, Indians were slow to integrate the AI chatbot into their workflows. However, a recent report indicates that ChatGPT is now utilized in over 90 percent of Indian offices. These offices rely on the AI chatbot for various tasks.
Additionally, there are ongoing reports about India’s corporate sector planning to invest billions in integrating AI tools into their operations. According to the latest data from DeskTime, it appears that the workforce is well-prepared to adapt to this transition to AI technologies.
The platform’s time tracking covers 297 companies with over 14,000 employees. This indicates a steady increase in the number of people using AI tools like ChatGPT, motivating companies to upskill and upgrade their workforce.
Data from these companies was collected between January 2023 and March 2024. Given that ChatGPT was introduced in late 2022, the adoption rate appears to be quite robust. Many more are expected to adopt ChatGPT and other AI tools to optimize and efficiently manage their work.
DeskTime reports that Indians are at the forefront of adopting AI tools for productivity, although this transition brings its own challenges. The same report indicates that as of March 2024, over 40 percent of the Indian workforce actively uses ChatGPT, though their primary use cases remain unspecified. The AI chatbot offers a wide range of features, from basic queries to complex prompts. Those not yet using these tools will need to upgrade their skills to ensure they remain relevant in the evolving job market.
Major tech companies like Google and Meta have already demonstrated the shift by replacing some employees with AI, but much of the industry can still coexist with AI advancements in the coming years.
While AI is becoming an integral part of the workplace, hardware development is still catching up. Companies like Intel, Apple, and Qualcomm are advancing AI PC technology, while Google, Apple, and Meta work on mobile AI applications for affordable devices. Additionally, Apple is partnering with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT to macOS and iPhones. Although there was a recent issue with ChatGPT exposing user chats in plain text, the latest update has resolved this problem.
