Apple’s upcoming intelligence-powered writing tool is set to outshine similar AI offerings from Samsung’s Galaxy AI.

With advanced capabilities, it could redefine how we create and communicate.

Some of Apple’s Intelligence features were previewed last month with the iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 1 update, along with similar beta updates for iPadOS and macOS Sequoia. A user with access to these AI features demonstrated the Writing Tools in action, claiming that the AI was able to proofread 2,203 words in under two minutes. The device used for this test is reportedly the M2-powered iPad Pro.

Apple Intelligence’s Writing Tools Demonstrated

A demo video showcasing Apple Intelligence’s Writing Tools was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user AppleLeaker (@LeakerApple), who identifies as a “former leaker.” The video features the Writing Tools floating window, displaying options such as Proofread, Rewrite (with tones including Friendly, Professional, and Concise), Summary, and additional features.

According to the user, they copied and pasted a 2,203-word (14,760 characters) Wikipedia article on OLED. When requested to proofread the document, the AI tool completed the task in under two minutes with a single command. However, the user noted that the proofreading was performed in segments of 350 words.

The user also claimed that Apple Intelligence’s feature supports a much higher character limit compared to Samsung’s Galaxy AI. According to the user, Galaxy AI has a limit of “500 characters.” However, Gadgets 360 staff verified that Apple’s AI summarization tool supports up to 9,917 characters with spaces or 8,413 characters without spaces. Additionally, Samsung’s support page states that their AI features in the Notes app require text between 200 and 4,000 characters.

Although the verified character limit was significantly higher than the user’s claim of 500 characters, if Apple Intelligence can indeed process over 14,000 characters in a single attempt, it would still surpass Galaxy AI. However, since the user did not demonstrate the summarization or rewrite features, it remains unclear if these functions have similar limits.

Moreover, these are early days, and the claims come from a single source. It remains to be seen whether Apple Intelligence can truly surpass Galaxy AI until the Cupertino-based tech giant officially releases the feature to the public.
